NAICA: Native American Indigenous Cinema and Arts is a non-profit online magazine dedicated to promoting contemporary Indigenous cinema and arts the world over.
Our objectives include, but are not limited to:
1. Cross-cultural/global communication
2. Education
3. Critical thinking
4. Cultural evolution
5. And, High art
You do not have to be Indigenous to get something out of this website, but you must believe in art and film as a means of communication on the highest level. An active interest in Indigenous art and film is a must. And by "Indigenous art and film" we don't mean over-priced bronze statues of Plains warriors purchased at Indian Market or Dances with Wolves. We mean art and films made by true Indigenous artists such as James Luna, Merata Mita, Larry McNeil, Shirley Cheechoo, Shelley Niro, Louise Erdrich, Brett Graham, and many more.
NAICA believes in the truly democratic nature of the Internet. Here you’ll find a whole host of Internet-based communications options: a forum designed for use by registered members to promote their work and the works of others, upcoming events, and discussions regarding current trends and issues related to Indigenous film and arts; scheduled chats with featured artists; dedicated blogs where you will learn more than you care to about NAICA’s leading team of contributors, as well as, guests-bloggers who have corresponded from notorious Native-centric events.
Donations to our organization are welcomed in the following form:
